PREPARATION FOR CDI/MAJOR INSPECTION

 

 

DECK & ACCOMMODATION

1. ANCHOR

* Stand-by both side anchor. (Open canvas, lashing wire & stoppers)

      * Chain stopper secured with pin?

 

2. MOORING WINCH & WINDLASS (FCLE & POOP DECK)

* Marking : Brake test, Rendering point and Renewal of liners (Each drum)

* Lever stopper : Hold on lever stopper after completed mooring.

* Clutch lever pins : Put on clutch lever pin after completed mooring.

       * Drum marking : Drum winding direction marking.

 

3. MOORING ROPES (FCLE & POOP DECK)

    * Rope condition : Check any damaged point. (wear & tear)

    * Rope out : Do not use same fair-leader that Nylon rope & Poly-Propylene rope.

    * Side ropes : Hold on the bitt 5 rounds. (Do not hold on the Fire-wire bitt)

    * Fore & Aft mooring ropes eye-spliced with more than 5 tucks?

 

4. FAIR-LEADER (FCLE & POOP DECK)

  * Check turning conditions.

    * SWL marking.

 

5. RAT GUARD

* Set Rat Guard on the ropes. (FCLE & POOP DECK)

 

6. FIRE WIRE (FCLE & POOP DECK)

    * Hold on the bitt 5 rounds and rig 1m above the water. / Put on flag.

 

7. BSN STORE & BOW THRUSTER ROOM

    * Check wooden plate. (Any damage or oily water trace)

    * Anchor chain quick release : Marking QUICK RELEASE SYSTEM and

                                          DO NOT TOUCH WITHOUT C/O PERMISSION

    * Prepare Hammer near the Quick release system.

    * Remove bilge from bilge well.

    * Marking near the bilge well DO NOT DISCH WITHOUT C/O PERMISSION

    * Post MSDS on the several cans of Neos, Methanol, Etc.

* Store lights : Check any out of order.

    * Bow thruster room fitted vessels to be prepared chair type Harness with lifting arrangement.

 

 

 

8 FCLE & POOP DECK

    * Non-slip surface paint? (under the mooring winch side drum, beside of bitt, walkway, etc.)

 

9. PAINT STORE

    * Check water spray system.

    * Post MSDS on the several cans of Methanol, Toluene and Others

* Check any out of ordered lights, loosen bolts, ventilation, closing caps of cans etc.

 

10. FCLE CARGO GEAR STORE

    * Check clean condition.

* Store lights : Check any out of order.

 

11. FOAM/FIRE HOSE, FOAM/FIRE HOSE BOX & FIRE ISOLATION VALVE

* Nozzle & Coupling : Remove rust by wire brush.

* Hose Box : Check opening/closing & remove holding ropes.

    * Operational condition of the valve, Red painting, marking.

 

12. DECK AIR-VENT

    * Paint condition on the bolts/nuts.

 

13. HH/OF ALARM

    * Marking HH: 95% , OF: 98% on deck terminal box.

    * Test record on every month.

 

14. VAPOUR LOCK

  * Marking reference height (see tank table) ;

    GROUNDING POINT : 0.0 m (Height from deck to tank bottom)

UTI POINT         : 0.0 m (Height of vapour lock)

     * Cargo tanks inner pipes fitted with full depth?

 

15. DECK CHEMICAL DRUMS

    * Post MSDS on the drums.   * Lashing condition?

    * Warning board : Flammable liquid collecting area Do not naked lights

 

16. CARGO HOSE CRANE

  * Grease band on the metal parts. (Bolts/Nuts, etc) / Repair condition of angle indicator.

    * SWL ___tons marking. / Wire renewed date marking.

 

17. HATCH COVERS

  * Stopping pins to be usable condition.

  * Sight glass(Peep holes) : To be kept clean condition.

    * During cargo works, hatch cover & bolt/nuts to be secured by dogging. (Fully close hatch cover)

 

18. MANIFOLD

  * Pressure gauge : Damaged gauges to be renewed.

  * Prepare non-explosive tools & flash lights.

  * Prepare mats for tools.   * 2 sets of fire-extinguishers.

  * 2 sets of fire hose with connected condition. (Direction to fore & aft)

  * 2 sets of B.A with spare air bottles. (Pressure check !)

  * 3 sets of chemical protective clothes/boots/face shield/goggles/gloves, etc.

  * Set flag card Dangerous cargo working

  * Hose connection/disconnection : Wear protective clothes full sets during the work.

  * Prepare UTI portable gauge 1 set.

  * Check blind bolts/nuts used suitable one (Unsuitable short piece bolts) and closed all blinds?

  * Vapour line painting & marking : See ISGOTT, Chapter-7, page-69.

 

19. LOAD LINES & FISH PLATE

  * Multiple load line painting synchronized with Load line certificate?

  * Painting conditions of fish plate?

 

20. CARGO HOSES

    * Un-used cargo hose : To be bolted fully.

    * Marking of number & pressure tested. (including stored spare hoses)

    * Vapour hose : To be marked by yellow paint Vapour hose.

 

21. CARGO PIPES

    * Un-used cargo pipe flanges : To be bolted fully.   * Marking of Pressure tested.

 

22. DECONTAMINATION SHOWER & EYE WASH

    * To be marked EMERGENCY EYE WASH & SHOWER

    * Cut valves to be opened always & tested water spray regularly. (clogging of spray holes)

    * Check whether available fitted heat trace (steam line) under the water pipe.

    * Check whether available fitted at least two sets of eye wash & one set of shower on deck.

 

23. PILOT BOARDING AREA

    * To be marked NO OBSTRUCTION

    * Prepare Life buoy with line connected self-igniting light.

 

24. PILOT LADDER

    * Check condition of Split Distance Pieces between step to step.   * Guide lines are prepared ?

    * Check non-slip surface or not.   * Lashing pilot ladder by ropes. (Unsuitable shackles lashing)

 

25. PORTABLE GANGWAY

    * Set gangway net.   * Set Bulwark ladder.

    * Prepare Life buoy with line connected self-igniting light.

 

26. DECK

    * Valve caps : Close all deck valve caps. (F/W, S/W, Steam, Butter-worth, etc)

    * Deck foam isolating valve : Check condition of the valve. (To be moved freely)

    * Cargo tanks heating coils inlet : Blank by blinds. (Spectacle flanges)

 

27. SCUPPER AREA

    * Put on both side scuppers.

    * Prepare oil/chemical spill materials. (Oil spill drums, Air-pumps, saw dust, rags, oil mats,

      small cans, etc.)

    * Portable Wilden Pumps :  1) Check operational condition.

                               2) Check bonding cables.

                               3) Connect air hose(2 sets all) & open air from E/RM until

completion of cargo working.

 

28. STEAM DRAIN LINE :  Check any draining of water or steam.

 

29. SAMPLE LOCKER

      * Sample bottles kept by means of divided wooden box?

      * Compatibility chart kept in the locker?   * Sample management procedure kept in the locker?

      * Sample list kept in the locker?

* How do you do old sample bottles?    * Present cargo samples taken by ship from manifold?

      * Cleanness of sample locker?   * Portable fire-extinguisher prepared near the sample locker?

      * Stainless steel tray for Acid Cargoes placed in sample locker?

 

30. PUMP ROOM

    * Prepare one set of ELSA (EEBD or BA set) in the pump room.

* Prepare Harness with usable condition.

    * Poster : Enclosed space entry procedure?   * Pump Room entry log?

* Post on Enclosed space entry permit at the day of inspection.

* Stand-by Gas/Oxygen meters near the entrance of P/RM.

(Check gas & oxygen contents before enter the pump room)

    * Operate P/RM Gas free fan.

    * Remove P/RM bilge.

    * Cargo sea chest valve : Is it fitted testing arrangement?

* Marking : Sea chest valve Do not open without C/O permission

           Gas alarm Gas alarm sensor

           Bilge alarm Bilge alarm sensor

* High suction vent to be kept with closed condition. (Do not open upper suction !)

* Nitrogen purging line and padding lines identified clearly at the gas manifold? / Instructions posted?

* Check P/RM lights & its bolts/nuts.

    * ODME overboard valve: Lock with chain & mark clearly Do not open without C/O permission

 

 

31. OUTSIDE PASSAGE

    * Set prohibited rope & notice in front of alongside way.

    * Close water-tight door the berthed side.

    * Check any out of ordered lights in the passage.

 

32. SAFETY LOCKER / FIREMANS OUTFIT

    * Open door during cargo works.

    * Marking SAFETY EQUIPMENT & FIREMANS OUTFIT separately.

    * Remove vinyl & boxes for use immediately.

    * Check gas mask glass condition.

    * Chemical locker to be kept : Chemical resistant apron, face shield and eye wash. (medicine)

* Check Air bottles pressure. (Full or not)   * Spare air bottles to be kept.

    * Check non-explosive flash lights & remove personnel flash lights.

    * Check store lights & its bolts/nuts.

 

33. BUNKER BILGE BOX

    * Check dry or not in the boxes.

    * Close plugs all of boxes.

 

34. SCUPPERS

    * Close scuppers in all draining holes in accommodation deck.

 

35. FIRE PLAN

    * Insert crew list & stowage plan.

    * Check grease condition & opening of caps.

 

36. GARBAGE DRUMS

    * Check clean condition of drums & Marking.

    * Separate garbage perfectly.

 

37. STEERING GEAR ROOM / ICE CHAMBER

    * Remove bilges. (Oily and water)

    * Lashings : Steel pipes, L.O cans, detergent cans and mooring ropes lashing condition.

    * MSDS on the chemical cans for engine room use.

    * Emergency fire pump : Instruction of operational method.

    * B.A air compressor :                     

    * Emergency steering gear :                

    * Air foam fire extinguisher :                

* Check any out of ordered lights.

    * S. Gear RM Bridge direct communication telephone : Check operational condition.

    * Ice chamber bell : Check operational condition.

      * Non-Slip surface : Is it provided by wooden plate or sand-paint on the floor?

 

* Marking: Bilge overboard valve. Do not discharge without C/O permission

* Condition of wooden plate.   * If fitted gyro repeater, head mark identified clearly?

    * Charging condition of L.O in emergency tanks.

    * Cleanness of steering gear room.

    * Steering gear room rounding log.   * Spanner prepared?

 

38. EMERGENCY GENERATOR ROOM

    * Check lights condition.

    * Instruction of operational method.

    * Remove bilge water.

 

39. OXYGEN / ACETYLENE BOTTLE STORAGE

    * Post on warning notice.   * Fire back arrester.   * Ventilation system fitted?

    * Connecting pipe : Not suitable flexible rubber hose !

 

40. LIFE RAFT

    * Check ID container.   * Check ladder condition.   * Weak link connected condition.

    * Check lights direction & lights stand turning condition.

    * Condition of launching instruction panel? / Is it located under the emergency light?

 

41. LIFE BOAT

    * Check painter ropes are connected correctly. (Manila ropes : Not suitable) : Hold on hook !

    * Marking of Renewed wires(5 years) or Turned end to end(2.5 years) date.

    * Testing of life boat engine. (Start within 3 minutes) : Especially 2/M & 3/M.

    * Seat belt & buckles condition. (Any damage or rust) : Damaged belts to be renewed.

    * Immersion suits : Any damage or broken of zipper.

    * Expired date : Signals, Food rations.

    * Sprinkler : Any damage of sprinkler and painting in water outlet. 

    * Battery : Charging condition.

    * Limit switch : Check operational condition & any signs of seized.

    * Portable fire-extinguishers : Check any rusty parts.

* Condition of launching instruction panel? / Is it located under the emergency light?

 

42. BATTERY ROOM

    * Protective equipment : Safety goggles, gloves, aprons, etc.

    * Prepare records. (Including S.G)     * Check any out of ordered lights.

 

43. LIFE RING WITH SELF-IGNITING LIGHTS / LINES

    * Connected lines : To be over 4 meters. (Life ring weight : To be over 4 kgs.)

    * Lines to be prepared as manners of heaving line.

    * Self-igniting lights : Check any out of ordered lights.

    * IMO symbol marks posted clearly?

 

44. GALLEY & MESS ROOM

    * Location & condition of Fire blanket. (in case of location near the stove, it should be shifted)

    * Garbage : Separate perfectly in the galley garbage cans.

  * Gas detector sensor : Marking & keep clean.

* Galley Poop deck door : Must be kept closed.

* Close galley and mess room windows.

    * Do not watching T.V during cargo operation & Fill the water in the ashtray.

    

45. FIRE-EXTINGUISHER

      * Check inspected date and foam refilled date.

 

46. DECK STORE

    * List-up & post on important equipments in front of store.

     (UTI portable gauge, UTI sampler, WWT kits, etc)

 

47. COC (SHIPS OFFICE)

    * Post on Cargo plan & Stowage plan

    * Post on Draft, Stability & Stress calculation

  * Post on Emergency contact list

    * Post on Maximum loading/unloading rate

* Post on Environmental Protection Policy

* Keep Oxygen resuscitator & Antidote in port.

    * P/RM Gas indicator : Check zero adjustment.

    * P/RM Bilge alarm : Check switched on.

    * Level Master : Marking HH 95% & OF 98%. (Alarm switched on?)

    * Level Master : Post on setting method of HH & OF alarm.

                    Any signs of error on the panel?

 

48. P & S ENTRANCE DOOR

    * Check IMO symbol marks are posted : Helmet, Gloves, Goggles and Boots.

 

  49. FIRE RETARDING DOOR

      * Check the doors are operational condition and kept closed always.

 

50. HOSPITAL

    * Separate medicines. (Chemical Antidote / WHO medicines / General medicines)

    * List-up of medicines.

    * Chemical antidotes for present cargoes available on board?

* Check expired medicines. (Do not keep in the ship)

    * Clean condition of hospital.

    * Shore based inspected certificate.

 

 

51. FIRE DETECTORS

    * Clean condition.

    * IMO symbol marks available posted?

 

52. INNER PASSAGE

    * Crew clothes, helmets and shoes to be removed to the cabin.

 

53. POSTERS

    * Bridge, Engine room, Passage, Mess room, COC posters

: Any expired certificates and incorrect poster posted?
